The Assistant Director of Media Planning and Lead Stewardship will explore, evaluate and secure innovative media solutions to advance brand awareness for FIU Online, as well as the stewarding of all leads generated as a result of planned annual spend. The position will work closely with the Director of Marketing to forecast and allocate annual budget across all media platforms including both digital and traditional mediums, and the nurturing of provider partnerships.
Provides in-depth analysis of proposed and existing vendor services and opportunities in order to effectively target markets for building brand awareness and lead generation aligning with the FIU Online’s strategic goals.
Conducts continuous research for new media-buy opportunities to support new program launches as well as enhancing existing programs.
Builds relationships with media sales companies in order to negotiate the best rates and appropriate media spaces.
Oversees the analysis, contracting and securing of lead generation services through various providers including search engine providers, new media and other business development opportunities.
Coordinates the reconciling of internal tracking systems versus reports from lead service providers to ensure accuracy and full execution of contracted obligations towards lead goals.
Analyzes media buy campaign performance and related pipeline conversions. Develops and provides reports on performance to effectively manage media spend and provide insight for improvements for future campaigns and resource allocation.
Provides stewardship and reporting, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing, for all funds allocated for the marketing and promotion of online programs.
Stewards all leads generated as a consequence of direct spends. Ensures responsible handling of all paid leads throughout the pipeline, and helps in identifying opportunities for Special Lead Communication Opportunities (SLCOs).
Collaborates with copywriter to provide guidance for creative direction (brief/specifications) based on demographics of audience targeted in media purchase(s).
Collaborates with the social media team and provides market insights and industry needs to assist with campaign strategy, content planning, and messaging.
Reviews final files and messaging for quality assurance on all materials related to the media purchase (spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, etc.). Ensures visual and copy consistency or customization of paid media determined by target audience segmentation, in accordance with details of contracted media buy.
Works with Operations/Finance team on payment, procurement and contracting matters.
Assesses and understands market trends in order to identify emerging markets in higher education.
Develops and maintains report protocols and SOPs for managing all partnerships supported by marketing/business development funds.
Serves as a University card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University credit card policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field with four (4) years of experience in social media tools, marketing, and advertising or Master’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field with six (2) years of experience in social media tools, marketing, and advertising.
Five years in a media buying role, directly overseeing annual media spends in excess of $1M
Proficient in use of Microsoft suite especially excel
Proficiency in working with google analytic tools, Facebook analytics and other social listening tools.
Familiar with web tools such as Cascade, SEO and website performance metrics
Familiar with digital services and publications used to assess and stay abreast of general media consumption habits (e.g.: EMarketer, Direct+, etc).
Must be able to articulate personal processes based on years of experience for assessing media buying opportunities.
