Marketing and Brand Development Director | International Leadership Association
Metro DC / Silver Spring MD, The International Leadership Association (ILA) is looking for an experienced marketing expert to take the lead on designing and implementing our marketing and brand promotion strategies. We are looking for a senior team member who is creative, innovative, and energized by the ILA’s mission of advancing leadership knowledge and practice for a better world.
The ILA is the largest professional membership association for those who practice, research, and teach leadership. With 3000 members from 100 countries, our association embodies the values of inclusion, interdisciplinary perspectives, and international contexts.
You will join a creative and dedicated staff working with a global Board and membership delivering high-quality programs, events, and services. This is a full-time, exempt position with a benefit package that includes individual health insurance and paid vacation, sick time, and holidays. Salary is based on experience. ILA employees commit to a work schedule that accommodates our collective work across time zones and leverages individual productivity. Telecommuting is an option.
Key Areas of Responsibility for this position are 1) Digital Marketing 2) Marketing Events, Membership, and Programs and 3) ILA Brand Strategy and Promotion.
Serves as the strategic lead and collaborates across ILA teams to define strategic marketing goals for membership growth and event registration; programs, products, and services; and brand visibility to effectively reach a broad spectrum of current and future members, stakeholders, and strategic partners.
Drives marketing projects including creative development, execution, and distribution. Creates, implements, and assesses comprehensive marketing plans that include strategic goals and tactics, metrics, budgets, and methods for evaluating progress and success. Cultivates and implements marketing partnerships.
Conducts ongoing research on target markets and potential partnerships, to refine value propositions, tactics, and messages to achieve strategic goals. Stays informed on the field of leadership and the achievements of members and partners.
Plans and implements website SEO and SEM, especially via our Yost SEO plugin and our Google Grants manager.
Creates, writes, and produces copy for emails and other channels. Uses marketing automation systems to program and deploy email campaigns, and HubSpot and Hootsuite for social media campaigns. Develops market segmentation, measures results, and reports on effectiveness with various targets. Utilizes integration between MemberClicks, WordPress, Google Analytics, and HubSpot to implement a marketing strategies and drip campaigns.
Serves as in-house expert related to email marketing activities on design, layout, and technical issues as well as in-house and industry best practices to ensure high-quality communications are produced through the email platform.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing or Communication
Extensive professional marketing experience including the proven ability to plan and implement successful marketing campaigns that comply with international spam and privacy laws such as GDPR
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills with strong content creation skills for print, web, and email
Self-starter with ability to work independently and with colleagues
Creative and resourceful approach to managing multiple projects and producing deliverables on deadline
Strong research, analysis, and decision-making skills and a solid knowledge of website and marketing analytics tools
Proficiency with technologies such as HubSpot and MS Office and the ability to quickly master new software
Preferred (a plus but not required)
Knowledge of leadership studies or related field
Prior association and/or non-profit experience
A positive outlook and an interest in global affairs and diverse cultures
Ability to travel once or twice a year domestically and internationally to ILA conferences.
