Vice President – Marketing and Communications | Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative
South Pittsburg, Tennessee, JOB SUMMARY:
The Vice President – Marketing & Communications plans, develops, and administers all marketing and communications, both internal and external, for the Cooperative and its subsidiaries. Provides leadership, teamwork, and communication in accordance with the Cooperative’s mission, vision, and values.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the overall, comprehensive communication program across the SVEC service area, that demonstrates cooperative values, supports the cooperative’s mission and helps achieve the cooperative’s vision.
Develop and implement an effective communication strategy and strategic plan to inform and educate members and employees on cooperative activities and industry issues.
Coordinate communications messaging across all outlets, including, but not limited to publications, local media channels, website, and social media.
Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of communication channels, records and analyzes metrics across multiple channels, focuses on efficiency and achieving cooperative goals; provides recommendations for continuous improvement and implements those recommendations.
Regularly communicates division activities to President/CEO, other Vice Presidents and Board of Directors. As a senior-level executive, maintains the utmost confidentiality and discretion.
Assists CEO with special projects, generates new ideas, identifies new opportunities for cooperative; collaborates with other department leaders and staff to ensure resources are used efficiently, cooperative goals are being met.
Oversees management of cooperative programs, products and services, both internal and those designed and implemented by cooperative partners such as TVA, NRECA, TECA and others.
Work to enhance the cooperative’s image and promote its core values within the community by coordinating civic and educational efforts and events.
Annually prepares and submits division plan and budget. Monitors department expenditures.
Stays informed on NRECA & TECA, industry activities and participates in programs as directed by the CEO.
Serves as company adviser to board of directors for SVECares, assists with administrative duties.
Supervises member service specialist and communications specialist. Cultivates a positive work environment, encourages team to learn, grow, work independently but also collaborate as a team.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration or related field is required.
Requires minimum of five years management experience.
Outstanding communication skills in all mediums (written, verbal, electronic, social media, etc.).
The ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Expert planning, interpersonal, and organizational skills; strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) is required.
Complete understanding and experience managing a variety of social media platforms in a business capacity, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Experience with social media analytics.
Must represent the co-op with external organizations, agencies, members, and power supplier in a progressive, positive, and professional manner.
Must have ability to consistently meet deadlines.
High level of independence and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Required to obtain and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
Must live in the SVEC area or be willing to relocate to the SVEC area.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires travel across SVEC area, occasional travel outside SVEC area. After hours work is required due to occasional planned events, storm-related events or emergency events. Occasional travel to related conferences, training, and meetings. Physical Demands: Heavy lifting or moving of materials: Occasionally , up to 50 pounds; Operates Equipment: Rarely; Operates Office Machines: Frequently – PC, Printers; Standing: Occasionally Walking: Occasionally; Awkward Position (stooping, bending etc.): Occasionally; Climbing: Rarely Eye-hand Coordination: Frequently; Location: Indoors, with occasional outdoor events and activities
